tone wheeler - principal architect

tone wheeler is an architect, author, educator and consultant with an abiding interest in environmentally sustainable design (esd) in the mid seventies. at the university of sydney he designed and coordinated and assisted in the construction of the "autonomous house", a working example of a low energy house constructed entirely from recycled materials. upon graduation he worked for the australian government in canberra where he designed a range of low cost social housing that won the r.a.i.a residential design award( c s daley medal) in 1980. for the last twenty years he has worked as an architect in his own practice and has won numerous awards and competitions. he has been on the faculty of 3 universities and is a frequent speaker at architectural conferences and seminars

tone has taught extensively over the last 25 years. as well as tenured positions at canberra university and at the university of sydney he has been a visiting lecturer at universities in australia (uts, unsw, queensland, tasmania, darwin), new zealand (auckland and wellington and the usa (ucla, university of southern california, sci-arc). his areas of speciality are esd, design, construction and materials.

jan o'connor - managing partner

jan o'connor is a architect with extensive experience in retail and exhibition design, particularly in the development of products and graphics to accompany architectural design. whilst completing an architectural degree (hons) at r.m.i.t., jan was employed in the property development department for, myer stores ltd., as retail design manager. after ten years of corporate employment jan left and co-founded the iconic retail t2, where she created the stores fit-out, design and packaging and also developed the wholesale business. following this success, she has returned to architectural practice as a partner at environa studio
